ElevenLabs review: a broad voice platform, not just text-to-speech.
ElevenLabs now covers much more than synthetic narration. Its current product family includes text-to-speech, speech-to-text, dubbing, voice design and cloning, sound effects, music, Studio production tools and agent capabilities. That breadth makes it especially relevant for creators and businesses that would otherwise stitch together several audio services.
ElevenLabs is strongest when voice quality, multilingual output and a shared production stack matter more than getting the absolute lowest cost per generated minute. It is particularly attractive for content teams that need narration, dubbing and reusable voices under one account.
Pricing changes the use case
The public plans currently run from Free through Starter, Creator, Pro, Scale and Business. ElevenLabs lists Starter at $6 per month, Creator at $22 per month with a current first-month discount, Pro at $99, Scale at $299 and Business at $990 before tax. Commercial use starts on paid tiers, and higher tiers add larger credit pools, collaboration features and more voice-cloning capacity.
Where ElevenLabs is strongest
- Narration and voiceover: the platform combines many voices with controls designed for production rather than novelty demos.
- Dubbing: useful when one video or campaign must be adapted across languages.
- Voice cloning: instant cloning appears on Starter, while professional voice cloning is included from Creator upward.
- Unified credits: one credit pool can be used across multiple ElevenLabs products, which simplifies purchasing but requires teams to monitor consumption across workflows.
Tradeoffs
A shared credit pool is convenient, but it also means heavy use of one product can reduce capacity elsewhere. Teams that generate large quantities of audio should calculate cost from their actual workflow rather than from the headline plan price. Voice cloning also requires responsible consent and rights management; a technically possible workflow is not automatically an appropriate one.
Affiliate program
ElevenLabs currently offers 22% commission on qualifying Starter, Creator, Pro and Scale subscriptions for the first 12 months of a referred subscriber’s payments, and 11% on Business. Its current partner documentation states that commissions become valid after a delay, so this is a recurring-revenue program rather than an instant-cash offer.
Who should choose it?
ElevenLabs is a strong fit for creators, agencies and businesses that expect voice to become a repeatable production capability rather than a one-off feature. Buyers who only need occasional basic narration should compare whether the free or entry-level plan is sufficient before committing to a larger subscription.
