Synthesia pricing: which plan actually makes sense after the October update?
Use Basic to prove the workflow. Starter at $29/month is the first paid step when downloads and removing Synthesia branding matter. Pro at $89/month is for materially higher recurring usage. Enterprise is a governance and scale decision, not simply “more credits.”
The October 2026 plan structure
On 1 October 2026, Synthesia renamed Creator to Pro. The company says the price and core feature set did not change, while the included usage increased. It also introduced larger Pro multipliers for teams that need more credits without moving directly to Enterprise.
| Plan | Monthly price | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | Testing the real workflow before paying |
| Starter | $29 | Regular individual production with downloads and no Synthesia logo |
| Pro | $89 | Higher-volume creators and small teams |
| Enterprise | Custom | Larger organizations needing security, governance and tailored capacity |
What every plan now includes
From October 1, every plan includes a common monthly allowance: 10 minutes of video creation or dubbing, three survey responses and 500 credits. Paid plans then add additional credits. Under the current structure, Starter adds 1,250 credits and Pro adds 6,000 credits; higher Pro multipliers scale the credit pool further.
This changes how you should think about the free plan. Basic is no longer just a decorative demo. It is enough to test whether Synthesia actually saves time on a real onboarding, training or explainer workflow before you commit.
Basic: use it to validate the job
Basic is the right starting point for almost everyone. Build one real production asset, not a toy demo. If the free workflow is already too slow, unnatural or difficult for your use case, paying for more capacity will not fix product fit.
Starter: pay when output rights and routine use matter
Starter is the logical first upgrade when you need to download finished content, remove the Synthesia logo and use the platform as a normal recurring production tool. The $29 monthly price is easy to justify if it replaces even a small amount of repeated filming or editing work each month.
Pro: only when volume is proven
Pro is $89 per month billed monthly and is the current successor to Creator. The best reason to upgrade is not status or feature curiosity; it is demonstrated usage. If you repeatedly hit Starter's capacity and the content is already delivering value, Pro becomes rational. If you are not using the included capacity, it is overbuying.
Enterprise: governance, security and organization
Enterprise is for organizations whose requirements go beyond a bigger credit bucket. Shared workspaces, SSO, administration, collaboration, implementation and higher API limits become the decision criteria. That is a procurement decision rather than a creator-plan upgrade.
Is annual billing worth it?
Synthesia advertises lower effective monthly pricing on annual billing. Because annual promotions and displayed equivalents can change, we would not lock in a year until a team has already completed enough real production to estimate monthly usage. Validate on Basic or a monthly paid plan first, then switch once the workflow is stable.
What does one paid referral mean for Proof & Merit?
Synthesia's public affiliate program currently states a 25% commission on qualifying Starter and Pro payments with a 60-day cookie. That commercial relationship is disclosed because it can fund this publication, but the buyer decision above is based on workflow fit and current product terms.
Synthesia vs Higgsfield: price is the wrong comparison
Synthesia is buying structured presenter-led business output. Higgsfield is buying creative generation across multiple video models. Compare the finished job, not the subscription sticker. See Higgsfield vs Synthesia.
Bottom line
Basic: prove the workflow. Starter: make it operational. Pro: scale a workflow already being used. Enterprise: solve organizational requirements. That sequence prevents the most common SaaS buying mistake: paying for capacity before proving recurring use.
